Chunker, The Hive's World Converter, is now Open Source

We're proud to announce the immediate availability of the open-source version of Chunker, The Hive's bidirectional Minecraft world converter. Chunker is a Java application that allows you to convert Java and Bedrock Minecraft worlds. It provides a simple interface for converting worlds and allows you to also upgrade and downgrade worlds between different versions of the game.

Available since 2019 as a public free-to-use web app, Chunker is used by both Minecraft players and Minecraft Partners to migrate worlds between the two versions and enable complex content creation. Chunker supports all Minecraft versions since Java 1.8.8 and Bedrock 1.12.0.

Open Source Chunker is available as both a Java-based CLI and a bundled GUI version for Windows, Linux, and Mac. You can build the application yourself, or easily download the latest version from the GitHub Releases page.

The legacy web-based Chunker application will be available until the end of 2024, we encourage users of the web-app to migrate to the Open Source offering at their convenience.

A massive thanks to the team at Mojang Studios for funding and assisting with the open-source transition. Hive Games is committed to maintaining Chunker for years to come.

Please note that The Hive server volunteer and support teams can and will NOT offer support for Chunker. For more information, please check out this support article.
